Neubau is found to the north of Mariahilfer Strasse and is well known for its second hand shops as well as many small restaurants and bars. It is a neighbourhood popular with students, intellectuals and creative industries and has a high percentage of foreigners living here. There are few tourists sights found in this area.

The sights found here are:
Spittelberg
Bücherei Wien
Hofmobilendepot

Spittelberg
The Spittelberg is a charming area full of narrow cobble-street lanes and lined with small houses. It has its own village square and it is here that the Spittelberg Christmas Market is held between late November and Christmas Eve. The Spittelberg is full of arts and crafts shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Bücherei Wien
This is Vienna’s main library and is found at the western end of Neubau. The library building is notable for its huge main doors that are two-storeys tall. At the top of the library is a cafe that has amazing views.
